Recently one of my friend encountered a problem with someone sending her unsolicited emails. I’m sure many others like her must have also encountered such problems in the past. It happens that you gave your e-mail ID to that person before or someone gets hold of it from somewhere and they sent you “bad” emails. Well, if you are a Gmail user there is a way to get through this. While Gmail doesn’t provide any direct feature to block such emails (other than spam of course) you can avoid these troublesome emails by following these steps. It’s not something new but not many people are aware of this method.
1. Go to Gmail and login to your account.
2. Go to an email from the sender you wish to block, and open it.
3. Go to the top of the email and use the More actions dropdown to select Filter messages like these.

4. The sender’s email address will appear in the From textbook of the Create a Filter form.
5. Click the Next Step button.
6. Check the Delete it checkbox.

7. If you wish to apply the new filter to clean out existing messages from this user, check the Also apply filter to # conversations below checkbox. If not, leave it unchecked.
8. Click the Create Filter button.
That’s it. You won’t receive any messages from this sender again.
